DISASTER ! ! !
Hurricane-Irene hit our Museum. Outside was 3 to 4 feet of Water.
This was taken around 3pm on Sunday afternoon on 28 August 2011.

31 august 2011.
Photo taken on Wednesday afternoon.
Water is draining very slowly but there was no damage to any of the DAFs or Memorabilia inside the building.

1 september 2011.
Workshop building is still underwater and suffered the most flood damage.

The DCA club truck sitting in water and mud.

Inside the garage full of water and everything is floating around.

My new welder and jack along with parts still in water.

Two feet (just at 24 inches) of water managed to get inside.
My toolboxes, Electrical equipment and parts were all underwater.

The parts warehouse and AERO.

Looking at the Museum from the Workshop.

3 september 2011.
The workshop is no longer under water but still 8 inches of mud outside still remains.

4 september 2011.
I managed to open the doors to the workshop today. It is still wet and muddy.
It could have been a lot worse, the building might have washed away!

Some of the mud around the Museum Garage being cleaned off.

11 september 2011.
We had a crew of five people to help clean up the workshop. What a mess!

Even my sister (Karin) and brother-in-law (Joe) got dirty helping out.

Everything at low levels was taken outside to be sorted, cleaned and re-boxed.

As much of the Mud was scrapped from the floor so it can dry.

13 september 2011.
By the afternoon the new Ditch was completed and draining water off my land back to the River.

16 october 2011.
Moving the mud from around the Restoration workshop.

Because of the water damage a certain amount of valuable and rare early DAF parts were lost and/or damaged beyond repair,
mostly still in original boxes. Four complete Variomatics and five complete Motors were sitting underwater for almost a week,
any damage there is still to be determined. Most of the big workshop repair equipment (Welders, Car Jacks, Hydraulic Lift and Brake Lathe)
suffered water damage as well as all the electric tools which were stored in my Tool Boxes.
At the time Hurricane Irene hit me there were four DAFs in the workshop (1960 DAF 750, 1962 750 Pick-Up, 1966 DAF 32 Cabriolet and a 1965 Daffodil 31)
being worked on and it took almost 3 weeks before we could even begin to cleanup the mud which had gotten inside.
I have lost an estimated $ 30,000.00 +/- just in my workshop on lost parts and tools.
