Part 2. . . . to Jewel.
It`s still 2006.
Tailgate area is as good as new.
Inner fender is going to need some more patching.
The outer skin will need a large patch of metal. The area holding the spring is solid as a rock though.
New steel patch panel attached and seams have been sealed against any more rust outs.
Motor has to come out to replace a bad driveshaft.
Old driveshaft (Vario end) has come loose.
With the motor out it gave me a chance to add some final touches.
Engine compartment details.
New driveshaft & motor going back in, simple job.
Motor almost back in, only takes one person and maybe 1 hour.
New floor boards look great.
Fenders solid again.
Rocker panels came out great.
Finishing touches on the rear end.
Laying in the foam padding.
New rubber floor matting.
Interior just about done.
The interior looks good again.

Rear cargo area details.
Completed access panel ready to show off the unique Variomatic Transmission.
Finally done, let's see what Paul thinks.
I think someone is happy with the results.
Paul & John with the newly completed & named DUCKY.
Let's go for a ride ! ! !
John making it legal.
First test drive since the completed restoration.

Lots of love went into the restoration of this truck.
2007.
We took the DAF truck to it's first car show, it won a trophy ! ! !
The Pick-Up attracted a lot of attention at the DCA car show.
Paul out for a joy ride in Keene Valley, NY.
Both DAFs off to a car show in Lake Placid,NY. Little did I know it would be our last one together. Man they look good together.
My dear friend Paul passed away in September but he left the truck to me for safe keeping.
Not to worry,"DUCKY" is in good hands.
A few minor changes made to make the truck more authentic. New original bumper,OEM style rearview mirrors & period Dutch license plate (JF=John's Fun ?, 30= model of this DAF & 33=the last "A" body DAF style made).
Original interior seating put back in, for now. The original seats & door panels will need a complete upholstery job and back to all light gray.
All the boards in the cargo have now been repainted light gray to match the interior of the truck.
Completed modifications to tailgate for a finishing touch.
In January "DUCKY" developed a serious oil leak at the front Crankshaft seal...so it has to be replaced. Nice "official tool" to remove the pulley.
2008.
There is the culprit....front seal cracked in half.
February and putting it all back together.
Almost back together again. Lots of repainting & polishing on the motor. "DUCKY" now runs great, without spitting oil!
Front end redone and complete with new turnsignal lamps in place. "Ducky" is almost ready for the 2008 car show season.
Seat frames and mounting rails repainted the original color.
An entire new interior has been put into the truck. The original seats have been re-upholstered and the door panels have been redone as well.
Inside wheels getting a Concours touch-up.
A replacement I.D. plate has been installed since the original one was missing. Chassis numbers were re-stamped as well as the year.
Tailgate chains were wrapped in plastic tubing to keep them from chipping the paint. Electrical wires were also wrapped in plastic tubing and secured to the bed.
Finally received my Vermont Antique license plates for "Ducky" and I even found an antique "NL" metal plate on e-Bay. Looks pretty darn good!
This was a photograph taken by the Rutland Herald Newspaper for an article which appeared on Sunday May 11th.
This May, photo made the Blog posting & also the June issue of Hemmings Motor News. It was taken at the first Cruise-In, Truck won the trophy for "Favorite Import".
Time for another upgrade. This time to the steering with the addition of an entire new Tie-Rod system. This photo shows the new outer end.
This photo shows the initial installation & new Tie-Rods on the truck.
Ducky & I made it into the August issue of Hemmings Motor News.
Ducky out strutting her stuff at a Car Show in Bennington, VT.
Out for a family gathering with the Pick-Up. Looks like Mom is enjoying herself in the DAF while Paul & I check out the Variomatic.
